Geiger counter
Geiger counter tube (GM tube) is a gas ionization detector working in the Geiger-Maitreya region. Because its amplification factor is much greater than 1, the output pulse amplitude has nothing to do with the original ionization, so the GM tube can only be used for pulse counting, can not be used for energy spectrum measurement. GM tube has the advantages of low price, large output amplitude and simple supporting circuit, which can be widely used in α, β, X, & gamma; and cosmic ray detection.
